The series made two appearances at Kentucky Speedway in 2006. STEVE WALLACE won the May 13, 2006 event by 0.229 of a second over BRAD COLEMAN in the closest series finish in Kentucky Speedway history. WALLACE started from the pole position after setting the current series track qualifying record with a 177.509 mph (30.421 seconds) qualifying run. Coleman took a July 7, 2006 Kentucky series win by 0.391 of a second over ERIN CROCKER in the third closest series finish in Kentucky Speedway history. Crocker took her second career Kentucky Speedway series pole award in that event with a 177.340 mph (30.450 seconds) qualifying effort. DARNELL: "Jeff Campey and all the guys on the crew did a really good job getting the car ready. We finished second at Kansas in our debut a couple weeks ago and it was a little frustrating, so we're out here this weekend
with the intention of winning the race.

On his familiarity with the track (Darnell makes his ninth career Kentucky start tonight):
"Not only with the trucks, but I've been out here 6 or 7 times in the NASCAR SouthEast series cars, so I'm pretty familiar with the track and I like racing here, so hopefully that will help."

On tonight’s competition:
"It's definitely a lot tougher than it was a couple years ago, with the amount of NASCAR affiliated teams coming into the series.  There's quite a few Cup-affiliated teams that have run strong this year, and I think it's made ARCA more competitive than ever. We need to focus on race set up in practice.  I think the car ran a couple great laps in race trim.  I honestly believe the race package is better than the qualifying package, so we're just trying to start up
front, and hopefully be there at the end."

CROCKER: "It's a very good car.  We've had a couple poles here and at other tracks but we're really trying to get that win. In practice, we've been working on our long runs and race set up instead of qualifying.

On the competition: "In some aspects it's worse when I'm trying to get that win, but it will make that win more meaningful."

On the car and changing weather conditions: "In an impound race you kind of have what you have, and have to work
around it."

BUTLER III:   "(The) car is great. I can't ask for anything more. Maybe if we free it up a little bit, that's the only way it can get better.  I think it's going to be great on the long runs.  Now we just have to turn it up for a best lap in qualifying."

On tonight’s competition: "You have to be on your toes the whole race.  It's going to be tough; patience, survival, and just finish the race.”

On what’s needed to win:  “This is my first time on a big track and I don’t really know what to expect yet. We’re going to try to be in good race position, make the right adjustments, and be there at the end.”

2007 Kentucky Speedway

22 BUTLER was denied the “Buckle-Up Kentucky 150” pole award when MICHAEL McDOWELL (No. 2 Z-Line / Make-A-Wish / Beck Dodge) rolled out 40 th and took the top spot on the starting grid with a 175.884-mph (30.702 seconds) lap. The run is third-fastest among the 14 series pole awards won at Kentucky Speedway. 2 McDOWELL took his first Kentucky Speedway pole award and his third of the season. 2 McDOWELL has now earned the pole award for two straight and three of the last four series races this season.

2007 Kentucky Speedway

McDOWELL: “This morning we didn't do a qualifying run. At a big 1.5-mile track like Kentucky Speedway you can pick up a fair amount of time by taping off and running a set of new tires.  We worked a lot on race runs and weren't that concerned about qualifying. The fact that we got the pole is a little surprising because we didn't focus on qualifying as much," McDowell said.

"We've been really good on the short tracks and we got two poles at Salem ( Ind.) and Winchester ( Ind.), but unfortunately the races haven't gone our way.  We worked really hard on the race set up here, so, hopefully, we'll be good for the long haul. It's great for the team to come out and show that we have some speed because we've been labeled a 'short-track team'.

"This is the best field ARCA's ever had, and, for us to come out here without a $25 million budget for our ARCA/Nextel program, that's the great thing about being on the pole tonight. It's awesome for Eddie Sharp and the team to show the little guy can prevail sometimes."

2007 Kentucky Speedway

The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series “ Kentucky 100” start time was moved up 15 minutes and the 26-truck field took the green flag at 5:45 p.m.

2007 Kentucky Speedway

3 KASMIERSKI charged from the ninth spot on the starting grid and held the lead midway through “ Kentucky 100.” 3 KASMIERSKI opened up a 1.5-second lead over 00 OTTING. 3 KASMIERSKI’s lead was cut to 0.500 of a second by defending series champion 7 HAHN on Lap 66, but 3 KASMIERSKI stood on the throttle and built a 1.919 second lead by Lap 72.

2007 Kentucky Speedway

7 HAHN, who moved through lapped traffic on the outside groove, stalked 3 KASMIERSKI through the closing segment of the race, executed a pass for the lead on Lap 97 and crossed the finish line 0.319 of a second ahead of 3 KASMIERSKI.

2007 Kentucky Speedway

Race pole award winner 31 GULLATTA placed third, 18 CRONENWETT took fourth and 00 OTTING drove across the finish line fifth.

2007 Kentucky Speedway

7 HAHN earns his 12 th career series win and moves to second on all-time wins list, passing BRETT ROWE. CHAD GUINN, a former Kentucky Speedway winner, leads the series in all-time wins with 24. 7 HAHN also took his second straight series win through three of a scheduled 13 events this season and his first career Kentucky Speedway victory.

2007 Kentucky Speedway

HAHN: “I knew John would come up on lapped traffic and his right front was smoking pretty bad,” Hahn said of his decision to try the final pass. “He just messed up and I was able to come out of here with a win.”

“I was a little teed on Lap 2 and I always drive a little better when I’m mad. I thought it was going to hurt us, but I kept knocking them off position by position, hoping I didn’t wear out the right front.

“I can’t thank my crew enough. We came here this morning not as fast as we wanted to be, made a lot of changes, and the truck got better,” he said.

KASMIERSKI: “A lot of lapped traffic got in the way at the end and cost us the race. Everybody that drove behind us drove clean, so mainly it's just getting the rookies straightened out. If you could run the bottom of the track here, you can pull away. As soon as you get into the lapped traffic in the second groove, it's just tough.  It's a one groove track really."

GULLATTA: "I thought we had a pretty good truck. We were really good in qualifying and practice.  We probably went a little too far for the race. We couldn't get through the middle and rolling a 10 for the invert put us way back.  We used up quite a bit of our stuff trying to get to third, and then had a long green flag run where we couldn't bunch the field back up."

"I feel for my guys.  They've been working three weeks straight and I thought it was a pretty good run.  We'll take that and go to Toledo next week."

On lapped traffic at the end of the race: "Nobody's going to pull over for you, but a little give and take might be nice."

2007 Kentucky Speedway

99 DARNELL (Winner): "When a car's like that, it definitely makes my job a lot easier. (Crew Chief) Jeff Campey and all the guys did a great job putting this car together.  We were close a couple weeks ago at Kansas and couldn't pull it off, so we came here tonight with a little better car, and I think it showed tonight. The Simply Wild Ford Fusion was just fast tonight."

On the late restart and the end of the race: "We knew we were going to be close on fuel.  Erin (Crocker) made the call to stay out, and she a quick car too and we knew it was going to be tough to catch her.  When we didn't get the green until 12 laps to go, I was a little nervous.  But at the same time, I knew that our car was really good on fresh tires and we got the green, went to the outside, and we were able to pull it off."

On winning at Kentucky Speedway: "It's definitely a cool deal.  I've run 8 or 9 ARCA races and it's nice to be able to get that first win.  I've been coming to Kentucky Speedway since 2001.  It's a beautiful track, I love running here, and it's nice to get my first ARCA here, at this track. "

98 CROCKER ( Second Place): "I thought we had some room at the end, then he was a few cars back and coming.  I knew he had very fresh tires compared to me.  I just gave it all I had, and hoped for the best. I knew he pitted for fresh tires, but I didn't know how much of a difference it would make.

On whose decision it was to stay out on the track at the end of the race: "It was our crew chief.  It was a good call."

02 SANTOS III ( Third Place): "It was my first race at Kentucky Speedway, and my fifth overall; I'm happy with the third-place finish. I look forward to improving in some of the upcoming events, and I'll definitely be back in July (for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES EVENT).

4 LAGASSE, JR. ( Fourth Place): "We've been consistent throughout the week, and felt like we had a shot to win, but the 99 had us covered.  He did things different.  IUt was hard to put a finger on one thing about our team, but we had good communication and pit stops.  We took a risk at the end with the tires, but it didn't work out. There's always next time."

30 BLOUNT (Fifth place): “I’m just out there to have fun. I’m happy the Jones Group and everybody involved with this team works their butt off. It’s just tough to compete with these new Cup teams. Tonight I finished first among the ARCA drivers and fifth among the Cup drivers. If I had the car that I had in 2005 (here), I would’ve ran laps around these guys. Everybody ran well, we just have to keep our chin up and look toward the next race. (Blount took a 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series win at Kentucky Speedway in a 150-mile July race and finished second at the track in the May series event at the track).

46 KIMMEL (Series points leader entering the race; 12 th Place): “We made an error not putting on tires on the last pit stop (during the last caution period). When I looked up and saw everybody duck down behind me and saw that they took on tires, I knew I was in trouble. (The NEXTEL Cup influence in ARCA) is making us all step up. We can’t race with old engines and old transmissions. Using old equipment is not going to cut it. If you use old equipment, it’s not going to be a good year. Everything is tougher as a whole, we just gotta step things up.”
