700 WLW Radio To Become Three Year Sponsor
The "700 WLW Day at the Races" is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2001 and will feature an ARCA/REMAX Series 150 mile stock car race and Legends car racing events on the venue's interior ¼ mile track featuring NASCAR Winston Cup drivers and local celebrities.
700 WLW radio, a 50,000 watt Clear Channel station based in Cincinnati, OH will make the annual event part of their business strategy over the next three-years. "No other sport has shown the explosive growth that NASCAR racing has had in recent years. For 700 WLW to be associated with NASCAR and more importantly the state of the art facilities at the Kentucky Speedway, I can't think of a better way to promote our station to the huge fan base here in the Tri-state. This is a win, not only for 700 WLW and the Kentucky Speedway, but also to the great NASCAR fans in the region." said Darryl Parks, Director AM Operations for the Clear Channel station.
Also included in the day will be an autograph session by NASCAR Winston Cup Drivers and an expanded interactive display area for adults and children. "We are delighted to have 700 WLW radio become a three year sponsor at the speedway. Their entire radio group has been very supportive of the project from day one and by us reaching a multi-year agreement reinforces that the partnership started last year is a win-win for both sides," said Mark F. Cassis, Executive VP/General Manager of Kentucky Speedway.
The "700 WLW Day At The Races" will be joined by the United States Auto Club (USAC) scheduled to make its inaugural run on the ¼ mile track on Friday evening, May 11th. "This is our first weekend of racing in 2001 and will be an exciting weekend featuring USAC and ARCA. We will be making announcement soon regarding the NASCAR Winston Cup drivers who will be participating in the Saturday Legends race, and who knows, maybe one or two will suit up for the USAC event running the night before." concluded Cassis.
