Accomplished actress Ashley Judd will be the grand marshal of the Indy Racing League "Belterra Casino Indy 300" IndyCar Series race at Kentucky Speedway on Sunday, August 15.

"Our ownership group, administration and fans are proud of our Kentucky heritage and will be honored and excited to welcome one of our own as the honorary grand marshal of this year's Indy Racing League event," Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis said. "Being an eighth generation Kentuckian, a University of Kentucky graduate and one of America's top actresses, Ms. Judd is certainly the perfect choice to join us for a showcase event at Kentucky's largest motorsports facility. That she is willing to participate in our event is a testament of her allegiance to our great state."

Judd is currently starring as 'Linda Lee Porter' in "De Lovely" and most recently starred in the feature film "Twisted" and on Broadway as 'Maggie' in Tennessee Williams' "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." She also is the Worldwide Spokesperson for YouthAids International.

The all Indy Racing League weekend begins at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday, August 14 with The Louisville Courier-Journal Pole Night" featuring IRL IndyCar Series qualifying and a 100-mile IRL Menards Infiniti Pro Series race. The 2004 edition of "The Belterra Casino Indy 300" will take the green flag on Sunday, August 15 at 3:30 p.m. The day also features a pre-race concert with country music artist Blake Shelton.
