Country Music Superstar Travis Tritt To Headline First Country Stampede Festival At Speedway
Multi-platinum country recording artist Travis Tritt, along with musicians Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Kellie Coffey, Brad Paisley, Gary Allan, Phil Vassar, Aaron Lines, Emerson Drive, Sawyer Brown and other major acts will headline the Country Stampede Presented by Belterra Casino Resort at Kentucky Speedway June 6-8.
Country Stampede, which originated in Manhattan, Kan., in 1995, expands its national reach for 2003 and will become the first three-day musical event in the four-year history of Kentucky Speedway. The festival is expected to attract more than 100,000 tri-state music fans.
In addition to hosting pre-race concerts staged in conjunction with its weekend events, the speedway's other musical ventures have included the 2001 "Warped Tour" and the 2000 Metallica "Summer Sanitorium" Tour, which attracted more than 52,000 fans to the infield of the $155-million facility.

Other high caliber acts already committed to the line-up include comedian Jeff Foxworthy, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins and Jolie Edwards.

Kentucky Speedway features both a 1.5-mile tri-oval and quarter-mile short track. The speedway opens its 2003 season May 9-10 with the return of the ARCA RE/MAX Series for the "Channel 5-205" and Legends Series race with NASCAR Winston Cup Series stars. Racing continues June 13-14 when the NASCAR Busch Series convenes to contest "The Meijer 300" and the NASCAR Hills Bros. All-Pro Series runs "The Kentucky 150."
