As its single "Somewhere In The Middle" heats up radio waves, DISHWALLA is making its way to Kentucky Speedway to support its third album OPALINE on immergent Records. The group will perform a pre-race concert prior to "The Kroger 300 presented by Oreo" NASCAR Busch Series race June 15.

DISHWALLA recently kicked off its summer-long trek in its hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif. Kentucky Speedway is one stop on its current U.S. tour.

"Somewhere In The Middle" can be heard nationwide. The DVD debuted at No. 3 on Billboard Magazine's DVD-Audio chart and the album, OPALINE, debuted at No. 12 on the publication's Independent Labels chart and is currently No. 28 on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart. The OPALINE album and DVD has received national recognition not only for its music, but also because it is the first time an album was simultaneously released in both formats. OPALINE is the group's first album since 1998. Their first, and most well known hit to date "Counting Blue Cars" came from the band's first release in 1995 titled PET YOUR FRIENDS. "700 WLW is very proud to continue its association with the Kentucky Speedway and this year, expanding its involvement by sponsoring the pre-race concert with the popular group, DISHWALLA," said Darryl Parks, Director of AM Operations at Clearchannel Cincinnati. "The speedway is an huge asset to the tri-state and 700 WLW is proud to be the official radio sponsor of the June race weekend at Kentucky Speedway."

The group-singer/songwriter J.R. Richards, guitarist Rodney Browning Cravens, bassist Scot Alexander; drummer Pete Maloney, and keyboardist Jim Wood recorded OPALINE over the past year in and around Los Angeles with producer Gregg Wattenberg, who also works with the group Five For Fighting. J.R. says the group had the right frame of mind and time for this album to evolve. "Everything we've done up to this point has been co-produced, " he said. "This was the first time we actually took the reins. He's (Watterberg) is much more of a songwriter guy, so he's into getting the songs crafted well before any recording is done. It definitely pays off." "I can remember their hit Counting Blue Cars a few years back," said Lisa Wilson, Director of Special Events at Kentucky Speedway. "To have them performing here for our pre-race concert during their renewed surge in popularity will be awesome."

In addition to the 5:45 p.m., DISHWALLA concert, Saturday, June 15, features "The Kroger 300 Presented by Oreo" at 8:00 p.m. Friday evening features NASCAR Busch Series final practice on "Lexington Herald-Leader Pole Night" at 7:00 p.m., and the NASCAR Hills Bros.
