For tri-state race fans who ever wondered what it would be like to drive their own car on a super speedway, Saturday was special day. Kentucky Speedway, through a promotion at their on-site Gift Shop, offered a special "Drive the Track Sale". Fans purchased $40 or more of merchandise at the Kentucky Speedway Gift Shop and then took a two-lap experience of a lifetime.

"It was nice. Fans have called and e-mailed us regularly wanting to drive the track. So, we got together with our Operations Director Andy Vertrees to secure track time and Helen Evancie, our Gift Shop Manager, to put together a daylong program. It was an early Christmas present!" said Mark F. Cassis, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Kentucky Speedway.

This was one of the many ways the fan friendly track is reaching out to fans. In 2001, Kentucky Speedway will offer a 4-race weekend/10 race schedule. In addition, driving schools, concerts and special events will also be part of the track's calendar.
