Kentucky Speedway is the latest track for the "Dodge Test Team" to visit as they continue to work towards for final approval from NASCAR of the new Intrepid R/T. The three-day session includes testing the chassis, the preliminary NASCAR Winston Cup race engine and team development. It's the first 1.5-mile tri-oval track to be included on the test schedule of the newest entry into Winston Cup Racing.

Ray Evernham, President and CEO of Evernham Motorsports, says Kentucky Speedway is an excellent track for test purposes. "You can test a lot of different things here. It's a mile and a half facility with a nice smooth surface. You can test certain things at short tracks. But, you really need a big speedway when you get into aerodynamics and engine installing."

Petty Enterprises joined Evernham Motorsports at the speedway. General Manager Kurt Romberg echoes Evernham's enthusiasm about the track. "This is a marvelous facility and it's relatively close to our home base in North Carolina." The two race teams have worked in tandem from the beginning in the development of the Intrepid R/T, set to debut in NASCAR Winston Cup at the Daytona 500 in 2001.

Kentucky Speedway will continue to be active the entire month of July and throughout the month of August. On August 26th and 27th, Kentucky Speedway hosts the Indy Racing Northern Light Series with "Belterra Resort Indy 300" and the ARCA Bondo-Mar Hyde Series "Blue Grass Quality Meats 200". Tickets are available for each race by calling toll free 1-888-652-RACE or visit our website at www.kentuckyspeedway.com.
