First Night of Short Track Action Postponed. Rain Washes Out USAC and ARCA Truck Races
May 11, 2001 - Friday night's racing was postponed at Kentucky Speedway after persistent rainfall began around 7 p.m. and did not show signs of letting up when the announcement was made just after 9 p.m. Tickets for tonight's event will be honored Aug. 10.
The WorldCom USAC National Midget Car Series and ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series races were to take place on Friday on the quarter mile track at the Speedway. Those races would have been the first points events on the short track.
Friday's postponed races will be run on Aug. 10. That Friday was already slated to feature the USAC Midgets, and will have the NASCAR Sportsmen-Thunder Trucks and the Baby Grand Series in addition to the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series.
The four-play of short track action will kick off a busy weekend of racing at Kentucky Speedway. Aug. 11 will be "Louisville Clear Channel Pole Night" for the IRL Northern Light Series and will feature the NASCAR Gatorade All Pro Series. The Belterra Casino Resort Indy 300 will take place on Aug. 12.
The racing will continue this weekend as scheduled with the ARCA Re/Max Series "Kentucky 150" beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday. Frank Kimmel won the pole for that race on Friday afternoon.
Tickets for all the action at Kentucky Speedway are available by calling 1-888-652-RACE, online at www.kentuckyspeedway.com and at the track this weekend.
