Indy Racing League IndyCar Series Drivers To "Race To The Reds" August 14
Indy Racing League IndyCar Series drivers Sarah Fisher, Scott Sharp and Robbie Buhl are scheduled to "Race To The Reds" to deliver the first pitch for the Cincinnati Reds contest with the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m. in Great American Ballpark.
The drivers and their IRL IndyCar Series machines will depart the "Festival of Speed" in the parking lot between Washington and Saratoga Streets at Newport on the Levee at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The "Race To The Reds" will follow Saratoga St., turn right on Third Street, pass through the valet parking circle at Newport on the Levee, re-enter Third Street and proceed to the Taylor Southgate Bridge. Drivers will cross the bridge, turn left on to Pete Rose Way and turn left on N. Broadway. Cars will enter Great American Ballpark at the street-level entrance near Mehring Way.
Kentucky Speedway's "Festival of Speed" begins at noon on Thursday, August 14 in the parking lot on the east side of Newport on the Levee in Newport, Ky. The day-long event will feature live music, Indy Racing League driver autograph sessions, and the four interactive properties of the IRL Experience including the Indy Racing Pit Stop Challenge, kids activity area and race simulators. The Big Ham Blues band takes the IRL Live stage from noon to 4:00 p.m. and Robin Lacy and Dezydeco will entertain from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Kentucky Speedway's final weekend of the 2003 season features the return of the IRL Infiniti Pro Series and IRL IndyCar Series. The weekend begins on Saturday, August 16 with IRL IndyCar Series qualifying and the Infiniti Pro Series "Kentucky 100" race on "The Bull Country Radio Pole Day." The IndyCar Series takes to the track on August 17 at 2:00 p.m. for "The Belterra Casino Indy 300." Cincinnati resident Don Mueller of the reality television show "Who Wants To Marry My Dad?" will serve as the event grand marshal and sign autographs at the speedway at 10:30 a.m. Pop music entertainers Sixpence None The Richer will perform a pre-race concert beginning at 11:30 a.m. Gates open both days at 9:00 a.m.
