The open test will give us a good indication of the type of action we will see when the IndyCar Series returns to Kentucky in August for 'The Belterra Casino Indy 300.'" Fans attending will see two test sessions, visit with series drivers during two autograph sessions and tour the new "IRL Fan Experience" interactive displays in the speedway's garage area. "We are excited this worked out and Kentucky Speedway was one of the venues chosen to host an IRL IndyCar Series open test this season," Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis said. "It will be a fun and exhilarating day for our fans. In addition to seeing the top Indy cars in the world travel at 220 mph, fans will be able to meet drivers, tour the garage, and play interactive games. Bring the kids, as it will be fun for the whole family and a unique, up-close racing experience."

In addition to a new name and logo for 2003, the IRL IndyCar Series has welcomed prominent new teams, drivers, engine providers and chassis. Honda and Toyota joined Chevrolet to provide racing power for the world-class race machines. Long-time IRL IndyCar Series manufacturers Dallara and Panoz G Force are providing new chassis along with a new manufacturer, Falcon.

Kentucky Speedway opens its 2003 season with the return of the ARCA RE/MAX Series for "The Louisville Courier-Journal Pole Night," featuring ARCA RE/MAX Series qualifying and an autograph session with NASCAR Winston Cup Series stars, on Friday, May 9, and "The Channel 5-205" on Saturday, May 10.
