NASCAR Goody's Dash Series driver Jake Hobgood took his first series win of 2002 and the lead the in series points standings at Kentucky Speedway in the first "700 WLW 100."

Hobgood held off a late charge from defending Kentucky champion Robert Huffman, who made up nine spots after a caution restart with 10 laps remaining in the race.

"We had to change right side tires (late in the race), because they were blistered and that put us back a little," Huffman said. "It was a good run and it's good to see Jake win."

Hobgood posts his first win, fifth top-five and sixth top-10 finish of the season. "It was a hard challenge. I knew they (the field) were coming hard (following the restart), but if I could keep them side-by-side behind me, I knew I could hold them off." The win catapults Hobgood to the top of the series points standings, as he entered the week just five points behind Huffman.

Ned Combs (No. 9 Duragloss/Flagship RVs Mercury), Chuck Gafrarar (No. 52 Flood Country/Refrigeration) and defending series champion Cam Strader (No. 6 Wesson Cooking Oil/Peter Pan Ford) rounded out the top five.
