Andretti Green driver Tony Kanaan will enter Sunday's "Belterra Casino Indy 300" at Kentucky Speedway with a slim seven-point lead over Marlboro Team Penske driver and Indy 500 Champion Gil de Ferran.

Kanaan took the lead from de Ferran after scoring a second-place finish last week at Gateway International Raceway. Kanaan has led the series standings for a total of nine weeks this season, his first full IndyCar season.

De Ferran's teammate Helio Castroneves, a two-time Indy 500 winner, and Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon also are stalking Kanaan. Castroneves stands third in the series standings and trails Kanaan by 10 points after taking his first win of the 2003 season last week at Gateway.
