Kentucky Speedway to be Included in New Nationwide Insurance "Dash 4 Cash"
Kentucky Speedway's "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" will be one of four 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series races included in the new "'Nationwide Insurance Dash 4 Cash."
In addition to the "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz," the "Dash 4 Cash" will add $25,000 to the winner's purse for one of two NASCAR Nationwide Series races staged at Nashville Superspeedway as well as events at Iowa Speedway Aug. 1 and Memphis Motorsports Park Oct. 24.
All NASCAR Nationwide Series participants including NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers running a full series schedule will be eligible for the bonus. If a driver who is not eligible wins one of the races, prize money will be rolled over to the next race in the competition. The program also includes a $50,000 season-end bonus to the eligible driver with the highest points total over the four races.
"We wanted to provide some additional support for drivers on our series. We also hope that these bonuses encourage competition and contribute to more exciting racing for the fans," said John Aman, associate vice president of strategic sponsorships for Nationwide.
Nationwide Insurance also will drive additional series interest among fans by partnering with ESPN.com to conduct an interactive weekly Nationwide "Driver Pick 'Em" contest. Fans can log-in to ESPN.com to select winners of 10 head-to-head match-ups for each of the 35 scheduled NASCAR Nationwide Series races this season. The contest will award weekly and season-long cash prizes to winners.
