SPARTA, Ky. - Officers from eight regional law enforcement agencies will compete and test their stock car racing skills in NASCAR Racing Experience racecars during the second Magpul Top Cop Challenge at Kentucky Speedway May 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Officers representing the City of Cincinnati, Butler Co., Ohio, Hamilton Co., Ohio, City of Newport, Ky., City of Lexington, Ky., Gallatin Co., Ky., Oldham Co. Ky., and the Kentucky State Police will participate in a two-officer team competition that will ultimately determine three officers who will have the chance to become Magpul Top Cop.   

Each team member will race an eight minute session around the speedway's 1.5-mile tri-oval. The fastest team score will be the Magpul Top Cop Challenge Team Champion. The winning team will be awarded tickets to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) June 28 Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts. Tickets will be distributed among needy families in the team's community.

The three highest-ranking Top Cops will advance to a final round in which they will drive an eight minute session. The officer with the best time (fastest single lap) will be crowned Magpul Top Cop Challenge Champion. The Top Cop will be recognized during Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts prerace ceremonies Saturday, June 28. 

The Magpul Top Cop Challenge is just one event that will remember fallen officers throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana during Police Memorial Week May 12-16. Fallen officers will be honored with a Police Memorial Parade that will begin May 12 at 11 a.m., at Fountain Square on Fifth Street and traverse to the Cincinnati Police Memorial at the corner of Central Parkway and Ezzard Charles Drive. 

The Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts is the fourth NSCS in track history and anchors a tripleheader NASCAR weekend that opens Thursday, June 26 with the Camping World Truck Series UNOH 225 and continues Friday, June 27 with the Nationwide Series John R. Elliott HERO Campaign 300 presented by Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
