SPARTA, Ky. - The Kentucky State Police tandem of Major Curtis O'Bannon and Major Scott Miller took team and individual honors in the Magpul Top Cop Challenge at Kentucky Speedway.

O'Bannon paced Team Kentucky State Police to its first event title with a 143.7 mph lap and joined Miller in posting a best combined speed of 300.3 mph. Miller, emerged atop a field of 16 officers representing eight jurisdictions with a 159.5 mph lap.

Winning officers earned Magpul prizes and tickets for Kentucky Speedway's July 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts to donate to worthy causes in their respective communities.

"You don't know that the car is going to hold but it holds every time. I was closer (to the wall) than I wanted to be. I think closer than my instructor wanted me to be. It was pretty scary getting up next to it," Miller said about his experience.

Miller will be introduced as the 2015 Magpul Top Cop during Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts prerace ceremonies.

"In law enforcement you're dealing with a lot of bad situations, bad events so you don't see people at their best," said O'Bannon about the comradery on display today during the event.

"Getting to come out and hang out with these guys doing something fun is just all the difference in the world."

Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts tickets start at just $59 and include a prerace concert with country music artist Jerrod Niemann. Fans who add a Kroger Fan Zone pass to their order will be able to see Niemann's concert trackside and enjoy infield access throughout the race day.

The fifth NSCS event in speedway history will cap a three-race NASCAR weekend that opens with the July 9 Camping World Truck Series UNOH 225 and additionally spotlights the XFINITY Series Kentucky 300.
