Kimmel Claims Pole for Kentucky ARCA 150
Frank Kimmel claimed his fourth Old Milwaukee Pole Award on the ARCA RE/MAX Series with a lap at 169.84 MPH (31.794 seconds) Friday at Kentucky Speedway in his Advance Auto Parts-Pork White Meat Ford. Kimmel, the series points leader this season, will start Saturday's Kentucky ARCA 150 from the first spot on the grid.
"This is a great facility and to run well here and capture my fourth pole is really tremendous," Kimmel said. "I think it is a credit to our racecar. This new Taurus is really doing the job."
Kimmel, a native of Jeffersonville, Ind., entered this season having won 10 pole positions. Through six races this season, he has claimed four Old Milwaukee Pole Awards and has won two races.
Tim Steele, the winner of the inaugural ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway in 2000, will start from the second position after turning a lap in 32.026 seconds. Mike Swain Jr. will start in third, and Jason Jarrett and Andy Belmont will round out the Top 5.
The Kentucky ARCA 150 will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kentucky Speedway. Kimmel will be back in action tonight when he participates in the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series race on the quarter mile track at Kentucky Speedway. Qualifying for that race will begin at 6:45 p.m.
The quarter mile will also feature USAC WorldCom Midget racing tonight. Highlighting that race will be the participation of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.
Tickets for all the action at Kentucky Speedway are available by calling 1-888-652-RACE, online at www.kentuckyspeedway.com and at the track this weekend.
