Kentucky Speedway announces Meijer, Coca-Cola and Secret® as new title and presenting sponsors of its August 13 Indy Racing League IndyCar Series race. IRL IndyCar Series drivers will take the green flag for the "Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Secret" at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 13 on ABC Television. The IRL Indy Pro Series will open the full-day of high-speed action at noon with the "IRL Indy Pro Kentucky 100." The day also includes a post-race concert with country artists Hot Apple Pie.

Meijer, Coca-Cola and Secret® are associate sponsors of the No. 16 Argent Mortgage Rahal-Letterman Racing IndyCar Series entry driven by 2005 Bombardier Rookie-of-the-Year Danica Patrick, who will be featured in the radio, television and print advertising leading up to the "Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Secret." Last year, she earned one of her three career pole positions at Kentucky Speedway en route to tying a series rookie record set by Tomas Scheckter in 2002.

"I never need any extra incentive for an event, but, as a driver, when one of your sponsor's names is on the event it makes any success at that race even more special," Patrick said. "Now, I have three of my sponsors in Meijer, Coca-Cola and Secret all teaming together for the Kentucky Speedway IndyCar Series event. We had a great start at Kentucky last year winning the pole with the fastest practice lap, but we had a mechanical problem in the race and didn't fare as well as we wanted. I am looking forward to our trip to Kentucky Speedway in August and you never know what history could be made at the 'Meijer Indy 300 presented by Coca-Cola and Secret.'"

In celebration of its newest Kentucky Speedway event, Meijer will offer race fans a chance to win a VIP race package that will include: - A meet and greet with Patrick - VIP tickets to the "Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Secret" - Two-night, three-day stay at the Belterra Resort and Casino including championship golf and spa relaxation package. - Concert passes and meet and greet with raceday country music entertainers Hot Apple Pie - Visit to Victory Lane following the "Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Secret"

"Meijer is really special and has become our largest event sponsor and corporate partner. Meijer is a terrific partner and its relationship with our facility has grown since it first sponsored our NASCAR Busch Series event in 2003," Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis said. "When we heard about Meijer's partnership with Danica Patrick, Coca-Cola and Secret, we proposed an event sponsorship we felt would make the car sponsorship even more relevant to race fans. Our facility was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. We credit all involved for making this entitlement a reality in a short time frame."

"Our new Kentucky Speedway race entitlement complements our partnership with Danica and Rahal-Letterman Racing. The sponsorship will solidify the goals we have for our Indy Racing League initiative because Kentucky Speedway allows us to fully activate the programs we have in place for Danica with Coke and Secret," Meijer Director of Promotions and Partnerships Cathy Cooper said.

The race weekend begins August 12 with 97.5 WAMZ-FM IRL Pole Day. The Saturday afternoon will feature IRL IndyCar and Indy Pro Series practice, qualifying and a driver autograph session. The Louisville country music station also is a new addition to the speedway sponsorship family.

The 2006 Kentucky Speedway season opens May 13 with the ARCA RE/MAX Series "Harley-Davidson of Cincinnati 150." Other main events will feature the NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Indy Racing League IndyCar Series races. Support events will spotlight the new USAC Silver Crown Series, ARCA RE/MAX Series, USAC Ford Focus Midget Car Series and IRL Indy Pro Series. Future race-day concerts will include Lonestar, The Charlie Daniels Band and Hot Apple Pie.
