Meijer Extends NASCAR Nationwide, IndyCar Series Event Partnerships
Kentucky Speedway announces Meijer has extended its sponsorships of the NASCAR Nationwide and IndyCar Series 300-mile events staged at the motorsports facility.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" will be held June 13 and the IndyCar Series "Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Red Baron and Edy's" will conclude an Aug. 1 doubleheader that begins with a Firestone Indy Lights 100-mile event.
Meijer also will be the track's "Official Supercenter" for a seventh consecutive season. Meijer will receive promotional category exclusivity, facility advertising/ signage, luxury suite access, promotional considerations and event tickets for both races.
"Our Kentucky Speedway events provide a great way to extend the Meijer brand to our customers, many of whom are members of the fiercely brand-loyal motorsports community," said Cathy Cooper, director of promotions and partnerships. "Our position as the 'Official Supercenter of Kentucky Speedway' is a great fit for our organization because our Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio team members are always ready to help race fans with everything they require to make the most of a race weekend or simply their day."
Meijer operates 185 Supercenters that employ more than 60,000 team members in five states. Supercenters offer a full grocery department as well as more than 40 other departments such as fashion, automotive, home decor, health and beauty care, pharmacy, electronics and pet care. "We're proud that we'll be continuing our association with Meijer and that each of our race events will carry primary sponsorship in 2009. Meijer's corporate team has always brought an enthusiastic approach to exploring new and interesting methods of expanding all areas of its event promotion. The team thoroughly understands our product and we're energized about accelerating our partnership in the years to come," Kentucky Speedway Director of Sponsorship Development and Client Services Dan Stuart said.
The four-weekend, six-race Kentucky Speedway opens May 9 with the ARCA RE/MAX Series "Drive Smart. Buckle-Up! Kentucky 150." In addition to the "Meijer 300" events, Kentucky Speedway also will feature the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series "Built Ford Tough 225 Presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers" July 18 as part of a doubleheader race day that includes the ARCA RE/MAX Series "Click it or Ticket.
