SPARTA, Ky. - Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce's Scott Schult will serve as grand marshal and Johanna Hodge as honorary starter for Saturday's NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300.   

Schult, the executive vice president of marketing, will wave the race green flag. He has been in destination marketing for 18 years, and has spent the past eight years with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and Visit Myrtle Beach. He was instrumental in creating the second-year NXS race partnership designed to bring together those passionate about families, racing, and beach vacations. 

Recently, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber was named the 2015 Chamber of the Year by the Association of Chamber Commerce Executives (ACCE).

Hodge, marketing production manager for Visit Myrtle Beach, will give the command for drivers to start their engines. She oversees the advertising and promotional campaigns for various publications and member referral programs. She has worked with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for 25 years.

The weekend is themed SANDTEMBER and guests are encouraged to frequently use the social media hashtag #SANDTEMBER throughout the weekend, #VMB300 for Saturday's race and #Crosley150 for the ARCA Racing Series event which launches the beach-style fun Friday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m.

Visitors will be able to test their surfing skills on a mechanical surfboard, view a sand sculpture depicting last year's VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 winner, Brendan Gaughan, along with the likeness of the speedway's "Smiles in the Sand" Facebook photo contest winner.

Guests also will have the opportunity to get an autograph from their favorite XFINITY Series driver when series championship leader Chris Buescher, Gaughan, Louisville, Ky., native Ben Rhodes, Ryan Blaney and more popular drivers greet guests during a VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 race-day autograph session scheduled from 3 p.m.-3:45 p.m.

A Racing Junk Car Show is slated to add to the race-day fun. On-site registration for classics and customs begins 11:30 a.m., judging is set for 1 p.m.-4 p.m., and an awards presentation featuring unique, seven-pound trophies constructed of race-used metal and pistons is set to begin at 5 p.m.
