DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers flip the switch on their season this week at Daytona International Speedway with practice sessions, the Sprint Unlimited race and Daytona 500 qualifying.

Two Sprint Unlimited practice sessions will be staged today, two Daytona 500 practice sessions will be held tomorrow prior to the 8:15 p.m. start of Sprint Unlimited.

The 75-lap battle will feature 25 drivers. The field is open to the 2014 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifiers, last season's pole award winners, former Sprint Unlimited winners and former Daytona 500 champions.

Any remaining positions are awarded to drivers who ranked highest in last season's final series standings.

Aric Almirola, Greg Biffle,  Clint Bowyer, Kurt Busch, , Kyle Busch,  Austin Dillon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Casey Mears, Paul Menard, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, Danica Patrick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Tony Stewart and Martin Truex Jr., will race for this year's Sprint Unlimited title.  AJ Allmendinger, David Gilliland, Brian Scott and Brian Vickers were eligible for the event but will not participate.

NASCAR will use the group qualifying format for the Daytona 500 for the first time Sunday. Qualifying will determine the front row for the season-opening Great American Race as well as the starting positions for Thursday's two 150-mile Budweiser Duel races. Duel results will set the remainder of the Daytona 500 field.
