Nationwide Insurance "Dash 4 Cash" Bonus Pushes "Meijer 300 Pres. by Ritz" Purse to All-Time Kentucky High
A $50,000 Nationwide Insurance "Dash 4 Cash" bonus will push the June 13 Kentucky Speedway "Meijer Presented by Ritz" purse to all-time track high of $1,507,996.
Two-time Kentucky Speedway race winners Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards will be just two full-time NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers gunning to add the bonus to the minimum first-place "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" award of $93,395.
Nationwide Insurance chose the "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" as one of four NASCAR Nationwide Series races included in the new "Dash 4 Cash" program which makes a $25,000 bonus available to full-time NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers who score a victory. The bonus was first offered April 11 at Nashville Superspeedway.
When NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular and part-time NASCAR Nationwide Series competitor Joey Logano took a victory in the event, the bonus went unclaimed and was rolled into the "Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz" purse.
Bonuses also will be available for the series' Aug. 1 Iowa Speedway race and the Oct. 24 tangle at Memphis Motorsports Park.
The "Dash 4 Cash" program also includes a $50,000 season-end bonus to the eligible driver with the highest points total through the four designated races.
"We wanted to provide some additional support for drivers on our series. We also hope that these bonuses encourage competition and contribute to more exciting racing for the fans," said John Aman, associate vice president of strategic sponsorships for Nationwide.
Nationwide Insurance also is driving additional series interest among fans by partnering with ESPN.com to conduct an interactive weekly Nationwide "Driver Pick 'Em" contest. Fans can log on to ESPN.com to select winners of 10 head-to-head match-ups for each of the 35 scheduled NASCAR Nationwide Series races this season. The contest awards weekly and season-long cash prizes to winners.
