New Speed Channel To Televise Kentucky Speedway NASCAR Hills Bros. All Pro, And Goody'S Dash Series Races
Kentucky Speedway's June 14 NASCAR Hills Bros. All Pro Series "Kentucky 150" and June 15 NASCAR Goody's Dash Series "700 WLW 100" will be televised on tape delay as part of the new SPEED Channel "NASCAR TV" lineup in 2002.
SPEED Channel debuts on Monday, Feb. 11, as a re-launch of the current Speedvision. SPEED Channel, which is currently available in 45 million homes in the United States, will be the first and only 24-hour cable network devoted exclusively to motorsports.
"SPEED Channel's new NASCAR Touring Series package will give us a great opportunity to showcase our sponsors and our facility to race fans around the country," Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis said.
"NASCAR TV" will air every Monday at 8:00 p.m. beginning Feb. 25. Two-hour shows will feature both race footage and feature stories from the eight NASCAR Touring Series. "NASCAR TV" will re-air each week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Kentucky's "700 WLW 100" will air Monday, June 14, and "The Kentucky 150" will air Monday, July 1.
"Our fans of every region of the country have asked for this type of programming, and we are very confident that it will boost awareness of each series, their sponsors and benefit all of the NASCAR Touring teams, tracks and drivers," said Paul Brooks, NASCAR vice president of broadcasting. "It's terrific exposure for everyone involved and a great television product for the 75 million NASCAR fans across America."
SPEED Channel will be home to much of the world's marquee racing events including NASCAR, CART, Formula 1, Classic Cars, World Rally, car shows and other motorsports activities from around the globe.
