August 26, 2000 - In the final test before qualifying for the Belterra Resort Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway, five drivers were faster than 218 miles per hour, up from two in Friday's practice sessions.

Scott Goodyear (No 4 Pennzoil Panther Dallara Oldsmobile) had the fastest lap of the morning at 218.847 miles per hour, the fastest lap ever recorded at Kentucky Speedway. "We did a mock qualifying run and got the fastest speed of the weekend. That's exciting," Goodyear said. "We tried a number a number of things during this final practice and found only great results."

Al Unser Jr. (No 3 Galles ECR Racing Starz Encore Superpak G Force Oldsmobile) completed the second fastest lap at a speed of 218.597 miles per hour. Indy Racing League rookie Sarah Fisher (No. 15 Walker Racing Cummins Special Dallara Oldsmobile) continued her torrid pace with a lap at 218.473 miles per hour, good for third fastest in the session. She had the fastest lap during the July 1 test at Kentucky Speedway, and was second fastest during yesterday's practice.

Qualifying for Sunday'sBelterra Resort Indy 300 will begin at 12:15 p.m. Saturday.
