NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series all-time leading money-winner Jack Sprague added to his series record of Bud Pole Awards by claiming the first starting position for Saturday's Kroger 225. Sprague won his 17th career pole with a lap time of 32.313 seconds (167.115 mph) on Kentucky Speedway's 1.5-mile tri-oval.

"We have an awful good truck," Sprague said. "The guys did a great job to get the truck primed. We ran faster than I thought we were going to run."

Sprague, who finished second in last year's Kroger 225, won his fourth Bud Pole Award of the season and his third in four weeks in the No. 24 Netzero Platinum Chevrolet. He is one of three Top 10 finishers from last year's race who will compete Saturday.

Starting outside Row One is Sprague's teammate Ricky Hendrick. The 21-year-old will start from second for the fourth time this season after turning a lap in 32.516 seconds (166.072 mph) in the No. 17 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet. Hendrick, the rookie points leader on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season, won last week's event in Kansas City.

Sprague and Hendrick started on the front row together in Darlington earlier this year. This is the third time this season that two Chevrolets will make up the front row.

Series points leader Scott Riggs will start third on Saturday for his 11th top-five start in 13 races. His best lap in the Team ASE Racing Dodge was 32.585 seconds (165.720 mph). Ted Musgrave qualified fourth with a 32.589 second (165.700) lap in the Mopar Performance Dodge. Joe Rutman's Dana Corporation Dodge qualified fifth with a lap in 32.622 seconds (165.532).

Saturday's Kroger 225 will get underway at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN and MRN Radio. Tickets are still available and may be purchased in person at the Speedway's ticket office in Sparta.
