Kentucky Speedway's vice president of corporate partnership Matt Alexander was selected to the 2017 Leadership Kentucky class and participated in one of the oldest and most prestigious statewide leadership development programs in the United States.

This year's class held its orientation at historic Boone Tavern in Berea and traveled to Louisville in July, Maysville in August, Frankfort and Georgetown in September, Eddyville, and Hopkinsville in October, Hazard and Manchester in November, and Danville and Lexington in December.

"I was impressed with Leadership Kentucky for multiple reasons, but at the top of the list was traveling all over the Commonwealth and consistently observing a genuine high-level of pride that exudes from all Kentuckians," said Alexander. "It also seemed that a common thread connecting the many leaders that we met is they were all alumni of Kentucky Leadership. It feels great to be part of such an impressive group."

Leadership Kentucky is a non-profit educational organization created in 1984, bringing together a selected group of people that possess a broad variety of leadership abilities, career accomplishments, and volunteer activities to gain insight into complex issues facing the state.

Leadership Kentucky, The Leadership Kentucky Foundation offers three unique programs: Leadership Kentucky, Elevate Kentucky (for young professionals), and New Executives to Kentucky, (for senior-level executives who have lived in the state for less than two years).

The sessions covered topics ranging from business and economic development, arts and tourism, natural resources and the environment, education and healthcare, agriculture, and government.
