Team Kentucky State Police, Kenton County Take Top Cop Challenge Titles

Kentucky State Police tandem of Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Slinker and Major PJ Burnett took team honors while Kenton County Chief of Police Spike Jones raced to his second individual title in the seventh Top Cop Challenge at Kentucky Speedway.

Burnett paced the Kentucky State Police team to the event title with a 153.73 mph. lap and joined Slinker in posting a best-combined speed of 307.07 mph. Jones emerged atop a field with a 154.45 mph. lap to take the individual title.

The speedway created the friendly competition to thank regional law enforcement for its efforts toward making the venue's race events successful in addition to officers' year-round public safety initiatives.

Police officers representing the City of Cincinnati, Butler County, Ohio, Hamilton County, Ohio, Jeffersontown, Kentucky, Oldham County, Kentucky, Kenton County, Kentucky, and the Kentucky State Police drove NASCAR Racing Experience cars for eight laps.

The two-officer teams that generated the fastest cumulative time determined the team title. The officers with the three fastest individual times were eligible to race for Top Cop honors.

The Kentucky State Police team earned July 11 Quaker State 400 presented by Walmart tickets to be distributed to families in need in their community.

The 2020 season at Kentucky Speedway begins in July with the return of a NASCAR tripleheader weekend anchored by the NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 presented by Walmart on Saturday, July 11. The Gander Outdoors Truck Series 225 starts the weekend on Thursday, July 9 and the Xfinity Series Alsco 300 is Friday, July 10.
